Trail Of Tears
Posted by: | CommentsBuck Buck and Billo sing “Trail Of Tears” by Billy Ray Cyrus. Billy Ray Cyrus Video: www.youtube.com Enamored of baseball, Billy Ray Cyrus intended to become another Johnny Bench as he grew up in Flatwoods, Ky. While attending Georgetown College on a baseball scholarship, he bought a guitar and decided immediately that athletics wasn’t the proper direction for his life. Instead, he formed a band called Sly Dog with his brother and gave himself a ten-month deadline for finding a place to play. One week prior to that cutoff date, the group went to work as the house band for a club in Ironton, Ohio, where they remained for two years. When a 1984 fire destroyed the bar — and Cyrus’ equipment — he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career. Eventually, he returned to Kentucky and commuted regularly to Nashville in search of a record deal. Grand Ole Opry star Del Reeves got Mercury Records to take a look, and division head Harold Shedd signed him in the summer of 1990. When his first album came out in mid-1992, Cyrus — with his good looks, sculpted body and the infectious “Achy, Breaky Heart” — became an instant groundbreaking sensation. Spending five weeks at the top of the country charts, “Achy, Breaky Heart” made his debut album, Some Gave All, a blockbuster success. By the time it fell off the charts, it had sold over nine million copies and spent 17 weeks on the top of the pop charts. Despite his attempts, Cyrus wasn’t able to replicate the success of Some Gave All. He …

Play That Funky Music – Wild Cherry (1976)
Posted by: | Comments“Play That Funky Music” was a funk rock disco song recorded by the rock band Wild Cherry and written by lead vocalist and guitarist Robert Parissi. The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 18, 1976 and was also number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart. The single was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipments of over two million records. The autobiographical song was inspired by the times, and the song’s unforgettable title and chorus came from drummer Ron Beitle’s observation during a break between sets at the 2001 Club in Pittsburgh. The group was mostly a hard rock outfit, but the disco era was really gaining steam and many of the group’s loyal followers were asking for more dance songs. While taking a break between sets, Ron uttered the now-classic line, “Play some funky music, white boy”. Lead singer Robert Parissi decided they should, and wrote down the phrase on a bar order pad. They later recorded it in Cleveland with a disco sound. The song sold over two million copies, but was Wild Cherry’s only hit. “Play That Funky Music” was listed at #73 on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time. C WEDDINGTON – FORMER COLUMBUS CITY SCHOOLS BOARD MEMBER TAKES BRIBES – 13 MARCH 2010
Posted by: | CommentsWeddington was a Board member and Chair Person of the Audit and Accountability Committee of Columbus Public Schools when the Federal Auditor did the investigation of the NCLB Tutoring Program in 2006 and 2007. October 16, 2006 PASS submitted a very detailed and comprehensive formal complaint to the Board exposing the Tutoring Fraud, John Higgins of the US DEPT OF EDUCATION ordered a Special investigation of the NCLB program. However, the investigation did not discover any fraud – the question now is – why not? Certain Administrators in Columbus City Schools are not producing requested “Public Records” as the ‘Open Records Law” requires and the current Board members are well aware of this “Obstruction”. Legal Counsel and Department Heads as well, conspire to “Obstruct” our access to “Public Records” Without access to “Public Records” the NCLB Fraud would never have been uncovered nor would the complaints filed by PASS forced Superintendent Gene Harris to request a State Audit and State Auditor Yost announcing on June 6, 2011 they will be conducing a Criminal Audit.
